Recap: Changes + July
Today’s tidbit: “Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.”
— Albert Einstein
It took a while for me to sit down and put into writing everything I wanted to say in my reflection post and June recap post. There was just so much going on with all the ups and downs. If I had to sum up June in a few words it would be challenging, rough, overwhelming and unexpected.
As I reflect now I feel more at ease. If I had to sum up July in a few words it would be transition, freeing and moving. Looking back July was another VERY busy month, but in a good way! So, what happened?
July: Ayn’s {surprise} photo shoot + Planned Allie’s bachelorette weekend + Designed Allie & Brian’s wedding invitation suite + Closing on house finalized + Offer on new house in MD accepted + Freelance design job with GMU + Booked 2 new photography jobs + Ayn had her baby, Amelia + Impromptu Old Town Alexandria photo shoot + Lease ended on my rental house, moved out

I didn’t realize just how crazy of a month July was until I started writing everything down!

- Along with Lindsey, a good friend, we planned a special day for Ayn including a surprise maternity photo shoot. Read full blog post.
- It’s been a while since I’ve mentioned Allie, my twin sister, but with her wedding fast approaching you will be hearing a lot more! I had fun planning her bachelorette weekend with the bridesmaids. We’ll be at a beautiful beach resort in NC very soon, August 9–12.
- Do you remember Allie & Brian’s Save the Date? Since then I have worked with them on designing their wedding invitation suite, and am happy to say the files are at the printer. I can’t wait until we get that delivery in the next 2 weeks!
- My mom drove down from NY for the closing on our house. It was emotional and stressful, but all the lose ends with the house and household items are finally done and everyone can really move on now!
- As I mentioned in June, my dad put an offer on a beautiful brand new house in MD and after some negotiating the offer was accepted! The new owners of our current house in VA are letting us rent back until mid August, when we will be able to move into the new house! Once we’re there I will post pictures!
- I have been working on a 4-peice design project with Student Services at GMU. 3 out of the 4 pieces are completed! The 4th piece I am starting now and will complete next week. Once all 4 pieces are back from the printer I will do a full blog post with more details.
- I booked 2 exciting photo shoots for late August/early September. More details as it gets closer.
- On July 30th Ayn welcomed her baby girl, Amelia into the world. I’m so happy for her and can’t wait to meet the liddo one!
- I had been busy packing up my rental house all month. With only 2 days left, I decided to take advantage of living 5 miles from Old Town Alexandria and did an impromptu photo shoot. It was a beautiful day and I just couldn’t be inside! Full blog post coming next week!
- As I mentioned, the lease on the place I was renting ended July 31st, so I finally finished packing and moving everything this week. Both Jax and Sammy were not happy dogs! It was a great 2 years and I know I will keep in touch with my roommates.
Officially closing the chapter on this beautiful childhood house. It served it’s purpose well and was a wonderful place to grow up! Lots of memories were made that I will never forget.
Impromptu Old Town Alexandria photo shoot, full of color + pattern + texture + architecture + little details.
It was a fun 2 years in my rental house in Alexandria with 2 wonderful roommates, Holly and Casey.
Jax and Sammy became very close and were mopey dogs the last week while we packed. The second picture is them the last day, laying in the yard as close together as they could get… I think they knew. Holly and I will be planning a play date soon!
… and that was July! Things are finally starting to come together 🙂 Looking forward to August!
Have an enjoyable weekend!
big things happened in july….and august will bring even more! hopefully all good and certainly lots of fun!
