Day 19, part 3: SA + Cape Town + Boulders Beach + Winery

Today’s tidbit: “People don’t take trips. Trips take people.” ― John Steinbeck

After dozens of posts, thousands of photos and countless memories this will be the last adventure from SA! The last two weeks I shared our private tour with hotspots2c. Continuing on, we headed to Boulders Beach where we were able to get close to a colony of penguins. We finished out the day at Groot Constantia Winery. It was a beautiful day outside with fabulous views, a great way to end our last full day in Cape Town, and South Africa.

{Boulders Beach} After spectacular views at Cape Point (last weeks post) we stopped at Boulders Beach to see the African penguins. These little guys are adorable!

As the website states, “There are few places in the world where you can get this close to a breeding colony of penguins, swim close to them in the sea and enjoy their private sandy beach. Boulders Beach is situated near Simon’s Town in False Bay between Fish Hoek and Cape Point.” Read more.

{Groot Constantia}  The last stop for the day was visiting South Africa’s oldest wine producing estate where we enjoyed a tour followed by wine tasting.

As the website states, “Groot Constantia’s revered history tells us how a man’s love of wine established the first wine farm in South Africa. By going back 300 years, we come to understand how 891 morgen of land created the origins of the South African wine industry, and how every owner thereafter contributed to what we know as Groot Constantia today. Agricultural activities at Groot Constantia included viticulture, and our Constantia wines became renowned in Europe. In 1709 there were 70 000 vines on the farm and Van der Stel produced 5,630 litres of wine.  During the years ownership of Groot Constantia changed, but the legacy and supremacy of the wines produced remained.” Read more.

Some things never get old… animals, nature and wine for example! What a great way to end our 2013 South Africa Adventure. Looking forward to taking a group of 10 women here in August 2014 and would love for you to be our photographer if your schedule permits. If anyone reading this wants to experience for yourself many of the places Alyssa has shared on her blogs, please email me for details to join my group. It has been said that a picture is worth a thousand words, but in person many of these places and experiences will simply leave you, and yes even me, speechless!

Thank you Alyssa for your creative talents, amazing photo eye and attention to the small details as you so beautifully portrayed and narrated this incredible journey we shared and for opening the eyes of your readers to the diversity, beauty, history and culture of South Africa. It was such a pleasure and honor to share my love of travel and South Africa with you (and your readers) and I’m excited to introduce it to many more people via my new business with SouthAfricaVisits.com which will launch the end of May after my upcoming trip to South Africa. Hoping to capture some exciting animal pics while on safari to warrant a few more blog posts…
